Sports Sciences Department The sports sciences department of Binaloud Institute of Higher Education was founded in 2015, initially accepting students at BA level. Since 2016 the department has been registering students of sports sciences (sports marketing) at MA level. In the first semester of 2017, the department began offering MA courses in applied physiology. The major goal of this department if to train experts for the future of Iran.
With more than 150 students doing their BA and MA, the department currently has 4 permanent members and more than 30 temporary lecturers who hold PhD and MA. The head of the department is Dr. Reza Gharari..
PE is an interdisciplinary major which blends a range of sciences for the development of body and mind. Based mainly upon medical sciences to the extent a graduate can assist a physician, this field also familiarizes students with human’s actions and reactions so they can work as trainers in the most appropriate way.
Another dimension of this field is sports sciences. Students get sufficient training in sports theoretically and practically so they are skilled in sports and do research with regard to sports sciences. Obtaining recognition and humanistic skills properly is another aspect of sports sciences especially for those doing their MA. This field is so multidisciplinary especially at MA level that it attracts students interested in sports and disciplines such as technical engineering, medical sciences, liberal arts and law.
The range of PE and sports sciences in education and personal hygiene and society is so extensive that it includes all age groups: from pre-birth to late adulthood. Also, PE is considered a precautionary factor to prevent disorders and mental illnesses. By means of the provisions of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran (paragraph 3), training experts in this field is required.
Since sports sciences offer a wide range of minors, job opportunities for graduates are variant: teaching in the ministry of education and the ministry of higher education, working in the ministry of sports and the young, working in the organization of sports, being employed in sports clubs and health clinics, working in sports federations; offering consultation, monitoring sports constructions and facilities and training various sports are just a few.
